Choosing the printer that is right you can be difficult is you don’t know all the pitfalls. Running costs is something that a lot of people overlook before buying a printer and this can be a costly mistake. The Samsung CLP-300n is a budget colour laser printer with one of the smallest price tags, but is cheap to run? Samsung CLP-300n toner cartridges are slightly different to the normalSamsung toner cartridges in that they are much smaller and yield fewer pages, but they also have a smaller price tag. Their cost per page however is slightly more than average with 2p for black prints and 10p for colour. You can save money and reduce these costs by using compatible Samsung printer cartridges which are widely available and cost up to 50% less than the genuine Samsung cartridges. The CLP-300n is the world’s most compact colour laser printer and while this is great for space saving it also has some disadvantages. These manifest themselves in a very small 150 sheet capacity paper tray and a single imaging drum which leads to slow printing speeds of 4ppm. Both of these mean that the CLP-300n is not great for doing large print runs. Output quality is reasonable with a 2400 x 600dpi resolution means the CLP-300n can print sharp result in black or colour. Although the printing speed is slow at 4ppm the monochrome print speed is actually quite reasonable with a maximum speed 16ppm. Overall the Samsung CLP-300n offers good quality colour laser printing for those on a tight budget.
